Dwennimmen & CarpeDiane
A Sacred Symbol
Malagasy ancestors are from Africa & Asia. This African symbol called Dwennimmen came to me as an obvious choice. This Adinkra symbol represents strength (in mind, body, and soul), humility, wisdom and learning.
We want our customers to recharge their batteries when they stay with us and leave stronger than ever.
In the core of the logo, there is this red shape representing the land of the ancestors as an anchor, the heart and the soul of an island. It is surrounded by 4 wave shapes representing the 4 directions and the 4 elements (Earth, Water, Wind and Fire). Moreover, our values are based on 4 corner stones: Authenticity, Wellbeing & Caring, Community, Sustainability.
They also represent waves of good vibrations to help you navigate with confidence in this world. The geographical location of the land itself is meaningful since it faces the Indian Ocean and is bordered by the Ivondro river and the Pangalanes.
Every morning, the sunrise over the sea is a promise of a new day, a new birth that gives you the energy to feel life's potential.
Carpe Diem
The Brand name CarpeDiane is nice wordplay related to Carpe Diem. It's a reference to my life philosophy. Carpe Diem is a Latin expression meaning “seize the day and make the most of the present time”. Diane is my name but also the name of the Goddess in charge of protecting Nature in Roman and Greek culture.
Since we live in a hyper connected and fast paced world, it is essential to slow down and reconnect with ourselves to be in the Here and Now.
We believe that it is in the present that we can find happiness and build a peaceful future. The combination of both names creates a bigger dimension for our brand, linked to the DNA of CarpeDiane and its values.
